Lisa Dorian

Biography:

Lisa Dorian has a Master of Studies in Law (Corporate Compliance) from Fordham University School of Law in New York and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Manitoba. Lisa is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA) and a US Certified Public Accountant.

She is also a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Risk Management Assurance Professional and is accredited by the Institute of Internal Auditors to conduct quality assessments/validations.

Lisa is currently a Sessional Faculty member at University Canada West teaching Financial Management.

She believes that learning should be practical and applied. Using real world examples and case studies, she encourages active participation through things like group discussions and smaller breakout sessions to allow for a deep dive into a variety of topics.

Expertise and Experience

In the earlier part of her career, Lisa held senior financial executive positions including CFO of a Canadian bank. However, as she was always drawn to the more educational side of business, she ultimately decided to pursue her passion. Lisa founded and grew training and consulting companies that had a focus on financial services.

She designed program curriculums and designed, developed, and delivered training programs globally for multinational financial institutions and corporations, as well as for many professional associations. These programs have ranged from commercial banking topics through to topics on financial management and business strategy, ethics, risk and compliance. She has also spoken at many industry conferences and authored several articles relevant to business strategy.

Lisa co-founded Corporate Finance Institute in 2016 with the purpose of democratizing learning to help anyone in the world to become a world class financial analyst.

Volunteer Activity

Lisa is a member of Financial Executives International and served as its National Board Chair in 2012/13. She is also the Treasurer of The BC Cycling Coalition, a non-profit, member-driven society that has the vision of making active transportation in British Columbia safe, practical and enjoyable for everyone.

Lisa is an avid cyclist and when not on her bike, she’s often exploring hiking trails with her dog.
