Dr. Tatiana Rivero Sanz

Biography:

Dr. Tatiana Rivero Sanz was born in Barcelona and has a PhD in XIX Century American Literature, Little Women and the American Romantics, an MA in Translation (English – Spanish), an MA in Spanish Philology from Carleton University, a BA in Spanish Philology and a Creative Writing course at Capilano University.

She teaches writing at UCW.

Expertise and Experience

Dr. Rivero Sanz is a polyglot who has lived in several countries since childhood. Her last home was the United Kingdom, where she lived for several years before moving to Canada with her family. Both her daughters were born on the road, one in Lugano, Switzerland, and the second one in London, UK.

She is an internationally awarded poet-photographer, published author, social media influencer, artist, performance artist and short-films maker. President of the publishing company The Dandelion Planet, she has published three poetry books.

Dr. Rivero Sanz brings into the classroom her multiethnic family background, years of living in many countries, love of languages and writing, as well as her know-how with different types of audiences. Public events taught her how to read group behavior; how to enter a room and connect with the subject. Living abroad most of her life has prepared her to relate to international students. Empathy, understanding, support; those are her goals in the classroom.

As a social media influencer, she has first-hand knowledge of the digital medium. As long as there is a real connection, the screen is not necessarily an obstacle; technology opens doors, it does not close them.

In relation to the act of writing – creative, academic, or business – writing is always a personal journey. It can heal, it builds bridges, it adds to your growth as a mature human being.

Dr. Rivero Sanz has taught abroad in Louisiana (River Oaks Square Arts Center, USA); International Painting Symposium, Master Class in Greece; a Master Class in Rome, with Teatro Studio Jankowski.
