Branka Gataric

Branka Gataric is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA Canada) and a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA UK) in good standing. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from Laurentian University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, majoring in International Economic Relations, from the University of Novi Sad. Additionally, Branka holds a Certificate for Teachers, earned upon completion of the vocational examination.

Branka is a sessional faculty member at University Canada West, where she currently teaches the Accounting for Managers course to MBA students. Her extensive industry experience as a Corporate Controller brings real-life business insights to the classroom, fostering an engaging and dynamic learning environment. Branka’s teaching philosophy emphasizes that knowledge is powerful and opens many doors; she encourages her students to stay focused and committed throughout their academic journey.

Expertise and Experience

Branka has accumulated twenty-nine years of combined experience in industry and in teaching accounting and business courses at post-secondary institutions across Canada. She has held several key roles, including Director of Accounting and Finance Programs at Acsenda School of Management, Articulation Manager at CPA Western School of Business, Senior Accountant at OceanWorks International Corp., Certified General Accountant at Suite101.com Media Inc., Controller at Cascadia Container Line, and Overseas Accounts Manager at Overseas Container Forwarding Inc., to name a few.

She has lectured CPA, CGA courses at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and has marked accounting assignments for several years. Most recently, she organized QuickBooks workshops for undergraduate students at Acsenda, led an accounting club, and hosted a free tax clinic through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), where student volunteers assisted international students with filing their tax returns.

Branka also designed a Financial Accounting course, developed its syllabus, and created tailored learning resources for hospitality management students at Vancouver Premier College.

She is currently working as an accounting professor at both Acsenda School of Management and Yorkville University, where she teaches accounting and business courses.
